Homes & Property is a successful magazine supplement that comes free with the Evening Standard every Wednesday. As the AND digital portfolio grew it was decided that Homes & Property should have an online presence to compliment this literature and challenge Rightmove, the market leading property website.
"The core site probably took less than 9 weeks to build from start to finish, which was pretty quick by anyone's standards!"

The early noughties had seen UK property growth go through the roof and the Daily Mail & General Trust, who owned AND, wanted to become a big player in the property market; they had already acquired Primelocation, Findaproperty and Findmeahome. With an already sizable audience reading the magazine it was important that the Home & Property readership migrated straight onto its own website and nobody else's! There was also no time to loose; the brief was literally to build an effective site in as little time as possible!
One of the first jobs was to define the audience for the site and scope their requirements from the application, although the demands of the deadline limited our activities in this area somewhat. After doing the groundwork we pieced together several user personas and ran through some scenarios of the type of activities we needed the application to support. The core site probably took less than 9 weeks to build from start to finish, which was pretty quick by anyone's standards!
Homes & Property online continues to do well and compliments the existing property websites within the DMGT digital portfolio. The site currently has over 300,000 unique users and serves more than 8 million page impressions every month.
